VINE

SOIL: Chateau Léoube’s position overlooking the Mediterranean means that its dry red wine have a freshness and briskness not always associated with the wines of the south of France. A mixture of schist and clay characterize Château Léoube soils. The proximity of the sea, the daily sea breeze and cool nights are all factors that provide an ideal climate for growing grapes. A particular situation that contributes to making wine out of common.

VARITIES : Syrah, Grenache, Cinsault and Cabernet Sauvignon

CELLAR

WINEMAKING: To obtain a perfect sorting, harvesting is manual only. The grapes are transported directly to the winery where they are placed immediately in temperature controlled vats. The fermentation is carried in stainless steel tanks with 12 days skin contact then natural alcoholic fermentation and full malolactic fermentation in stainless steel. Its ageing and conservation is happening in oak tanks for 18 months minimum.

AGEING POTENTIAL: 5 to 10 years

 

SERVE

TASTING: This dry red wine has youthful flavours of plum and cherry starting to develop into more complex notes of walnut, dried fruits and tobacco. The bright colour, vivid fruit and overall sense of freshness all suggest that this is a wine that will remain at its peak for at least another 5 years.

SERVING TEMPERATURE: 16-17°C

SIZES : red bottle 75cl, red magnum 150cl, jeroboam 3 litres.

WINE PAIRING: slow cooked meat, game, cheese, or chocolate dessert.
