Our history
Provence is home to some of the oldest vineyards in France and with them, millenary lands. Formerly the seabed rested on these mineral-saturated soils, giving Léoube's land all its strength and singularity today.
1301 - 1700
Construction of Château Léoube at the end of the 14th century, at the same time and based on the same architectural model as the Château de Brégançon.
The Léoube estate was part of the Seigneury of Brégançon until 1666, when it became a private patrimonial property.
1701 - 1900
The estate passed through the hands of several owners. In 1921, the Engelsen & Lebel family bought it at auction from the descendants of Emile Gérard, the owner since 1840.
1975
Cap Bénat, the territory that home to the Léoube estate, is classified as a heritage site by the Conservatoire du Littoral.
1997
Lord and Lady Bamford, pioneers of organic farming in England, took over Léoube to apply their sustainable vision of agriculture to viticulture. The first step was to begin work on the farm and vineyard by tilling the land using environmentally sound methods. The next stage involved renovating the cellar, the château and the historic gardens;
2000
Launch of the first vintage and the first extra virgin olive oil.
2017
Launch of the ‘Secret de Léoube’ vintage
2011
Léoube obtained organic certification and launched its Léoube Collector vintage red, a non-appellation wine primarily made from Cabernet Franc grapes.
2020
Obtained the "High Environmental Value" (HVE) certification.
2026
Achievement of B Corp certification, confirming Léoube’s commitments to the environment, employment and local impact.
Léoube adheres to verified standards in relation to social and environmental practices.
