VINE
SOIL: Chateau Léoube’s position overlooking the Mediterranean means that its full bodied red wine have a freshness and briskness not always associated with the wines of the south of France. A mixture of schist and clay characterize Château Léoube soils. The proximity of the sea, the daily sea breeze and cool nights are all factors that provide an ideal climate for growing grapes. A particular situation that contributes to making wine out of common.

CELLAR
WINEMAKING: To obtain a perfect sorting, harvesting is manual only. The grapes are transported directly to the winery where they are placed immediately in temperature controlled vats. The fermentation is carried in stainless steel tanks with 12 days skin contact then natural alcoholic fermentation and full malolactic fermentation in stainless steel. Its ageing and conservation happening in demi-muid French oak for 24 months.

SERVE
TASTING: Gently fragrant on the nose, this full bodied red wine shows more expression on the palate where the flavours of blackberry and black plum are underpinned by attractive tobacco notes. As the wine breathes, it reveals great fruit intensity and the aromas of maquis that are so distinctive to the Léoube vineyard. Structured and classically proportioned, this is a “vin de garde” that could easily develop for a further 5 to 15 years.
